Members of the Institute can print on any of the following printers

All Lorentz Institute printers have been pre-configured and are ready to be used on your GNU/Linux workstation. These should appear in a drop-down menu of the print panel of the software you are using to print.
Use lpstat
to display a list and state of available printers
lpstat -p
Print a document with lpr
lpr -P<printer_name> <document>
IP addresses and hostnames of the printers can be obtained using
$ lpstat -v
Connect to the UL-STRW-LION wireless network or a cabled connection if that is available in your office.
Use the CUPS (http://localhost:631) software to install any of the IL printers.
For instance to install the lorentz_medium
printer do:
Should you want to add any of the printers mentioned in the table above, use the following connection scheme
ipp:printers.lorentz.leidenuniv.nl/printers/<printer-name>''
and use either the driver appropriate for the printer model (see table above) or the IPP everywhere driver.
===== Printing from Laptops and other mobile devices =====
In principle you could use all the steps mentioned above for the Mac users. If your device does not have cups, you could use any software that is available on your client to set up printers.
The only important thing to bear in mind is that you should be connected to UL-STRW-LION. Other wireless networks will not allow you to print on the IL printers.
